Welcome to Le 5 R Restaurant

Our Story

Le 5 R is the passion project of French Chef Philippe Lopez and his English wife Linda.

Philippe, born in Lavelanet, attended the hotel school of Saint-Girons. He has been a professional chef for years, partly in the region but mainly in England where he has spent 40 years.

He has run his own restaurant in Wetherby, Yorkshire. He has also run restaurants on Centre Court at Wimbledon and Leeds United’s Elland Road.

Our Philosophy

Fresh, Local Ingredients: We source the finest ingredients from local farmers and producers, ensuring that every dish showcases the best of Ariège's seasonal bounty.
French Culinary Tradition: Chef Philippe's creations are rooted in classic French techniques, with a modern twist that surprises and delights.
Warm Hospitality: With Linda's friendly service, we strive to make every guest feel at home in our cozy dining room.

Epaule d’agneau de Pamiers aux fines herbes et jus de viande
Slow-cooked Pamiers lamb shoulder with fresh herbs, served in a rich, flavorful meat jus. A tender, savory delight.
Joue de Boeuf carottes lardons et cornichons
Slow-cooked beef cheek with caramelized carrots, crispy lardons, and tangy cornichons, served in a rich red wine sauce.
Saumon grillé sauce beurre blanc sur légumes rôties.
Grilled salmon with beurre blanc sauce, served over a bed of roasted vegetables. Light, flavorful, and perfectly balanced.

Why Le 5 R?

Lagarde is located in the centre of a pentagon of landmarks for small planes, the famous beacons on high or known points, the Sibra castle, the Montségur castle, the Saint-Quentin tower, the Monts d’Olmes and of course the Lagarde castle.

A wonderful leisurely lunch. I am coeliac and this was easily accommodated by the excellent chef, he also created a special gluten free dessert just for me.
Relaxed atmosphere, amazing view, very nice wine and excellent food, fish is the speciality.
We hope to return soon, thanks for letting us bring our dog too.

Absolute gem of a restaurant

We went to this restaurant with friends for a Sunday lunch on 14th July. The whole experience was just a delight. The location was beautiful, the service friendly, and the food was wonderful.
All the food was produced by a single chef in a kitchen alongside the dining area, and everything that we ordered was so full of flavour. Our best dining experience during this holiday in France.

Nice location, good food, excellent service.

Nicely located with a beautiful view over the valleys towards the Pyrenées. The lunch was excellent, lovely entrées main dish and dessert. Good wines, and the service was also tip-top. Before writing this review we have visited a few times since the opening of “Le 5R”.
